Transplanting Plants is an important task in gardening and at the same time helps plants to stay healthy. When a plant grows too large for its current pot, its roots can be damaged or suffocated, resulting in slower growth and unhealthy appearance. To avoid this damage, you must transfer the plants from your current pot to a larger one. Although this process is important, it can also be dangerous and traumatic for plants, it is very important to transplant plants, especially for the benefit of the roots. It is fundamental in this task to change the substrate or soil to a fertile, disinfected and well drained. Ideally, it should be changed when the pot is small or when the soil is too washed and poor in nutrients.
Transplanting plants from one pot to another
Transplanting involves planting the root of the pot and planting it in a new one where your roots have the freedom they need. We all know that plants are living beings, so we will perform this operation with the utmost care to reduce the trauma that we can cause them.
- To change the plants of place, we wait for the roots to reach a size that allows us to handle them.
- Water all the plants you want to transplant with a fertilizer. You must do this between 1 and 2 days before the day you are going to transplant it to allow the fertilizer to do its job.
- Support one of your hands on the ground and turn the pot, while with the other, carefully strike the base of the pot. If you cannot loosen the soil, lightly tap the edge of the planter against a hard surface until you release the entire root ball. Then place it in the new pot or place selected.
- Then we will locate the planter with the basal part of the plant, and proceed to fill with the mixture of substrate, avoiding that there are spaces with air.
- Then water in abundance to prevent this plant from becoming dehydrated. Water carefully until the water comes out through the lower perforation. Even if the plant is sunny, keep it in the shade for about a week.
It will take a couple of days to the plant to get used to its new environment and only after that you must return it to a place where the sunlight falls.
