Centennial olive trees are a type of tree considered ancestral and majestic, they represent great symbols such as virtue and strength. They are called centennials because they manage to live more than 100 years for that reason their importance in the world, they have managed to go through many changes in the planet and to survive, so  protect the olive trees is a subject of great importance in the daily happening.

They have a hard and rough bark, usually hollowed out and have holes with twisted shapes, this base can measure between 4 to 6 meters perimeter, and their crowns reach 2 meters in height, although varies between specimens, however, they look imposing and strong on all types.

The changes of the planet

In front of the inevitable climatic changes, this type of trees is threatened and to protect the olive trees there are not many campaigns or groups of action, usually these trees grow in nurseries or fields of specialized cultivation, those that grow in other areas suffer a lot more climate changes.

Although not requiring much water to survive and being able to adapt to harsh and warm places where they are exposed to the sun daily, changes such as continuous heavy rains and humid environments can rot their roots.

Also, the periods of strong drought where now the sun hits with much more force tend to dry them, despite being able to adapt, the sun in excess can make them dry, weaken them and finally kill them.

Protection of centennial olive trees

The ideal is to care for and protect the olive trees from the recurring changes that the planet has. In captivity, the olive trees can protect themselves from climatic changes by covering them from the strong and prolonged rains with any plastic sheet and avoiding the stagnation of water in their trunk, before the strong droughts the ideal is to water them much more frequently.
